Reminder: Please Use AMD instead of Xilinx in your Blogs and Roadtest Reviews Going Forward

rscasny
rscasny over 2 years ago

I had a meeting with AMD today (formerly Xilinx) and we talked about their name change and how to refer to it now.

If you are not aware of it, AMD purchased Xilinx. For a period of time, we referred to to it as AMD Xilinx. But now, we only refer to it as AMD.

This name change process spans over a period of time. But it is important to the company and I'd like you to conform to it as much as you can, especially in your roadtest reviews.

I wouldn't go back and change anything you did in the past. This reminder is for going forward.

If you have any questions, feel free to respond with a comment here or message me rscasny

Thanks

Randall

This is totally understandable from a corporate branding point of view. My first thought was 'Video killed the radio star', and I am still listening to radio these days. I grew up with Xilinx and Altera…

Indeed. I used MAX+PLUS II in the late 90s and early 2000s. I believe I even used it to design for the FLEX10K100 which was considered a substantial FPGA at the time.

I must admit, when I see AMD in a title or a sentence an FPGA is not the first thing that springs into my mind. This is going to take some time to become a natural association.
