Depends, if the motor had its own controller, you could use canbus and hook the control lines to the header on the board (e.g. in automotive/elevator applications). A raw motor would need its own driver, in which case, maybe via a shield. But not too much experience with this myself.
That board reminds me a bit of the Edison boards.
Depending on the availability and the goal (just for fun? a design for a client? etc), an ESC, a custom driver, or a driver shield would all be options, in my opinion.
There is no motor interface, that is mention on the datasheet. I would rather go for motor specific boards that has more motor control features in it. The datasheet gives a circuit for separate motor control drive. Please provide us with that same drive to test this board for motor control. And a 3 phase motor as well.
Does this board has firmware for micropython.
