Need Someone for a Project: Cypress PSoc6 BLE kit +  Honeywell Pressure Sensor Shield

I was contacted by a supplier who is interested in giving hardware for free to someone who could do a project for them featuring  Cypress's PSoc6 BLE kit +  Honeywell Pressure Sensor Shield.

 

They would like the person to do the following:

 

Interface the pressure sensors of the Honeywell Sensor Shield with the PSoC 6 analog/digital peripherals and then transmit data via BLE or showcasing it on the E-ink display of the PSoC 6 BLE Kit. The project should have some kind of medical application. For example, measuring pressure in some kind of health/medical application.

I would like to do this sometime in October. I'd like to get it accomplished in a month--the shorter time period is why I am not offering it as a roadtest.

    I wanted to post an update to this.

     

    First off: anyone who needs a PSoC 6 Pioneer kit, they are on their way to me. I got the tracking number so I should get them shortly. In addition, I have ordered 5 Honeywell Sensor Shields (SEK002) for all of you. Before looking at the datasheet, I casually assumed that the sensors were placed on the shield, as they are on other shields/expansion boards. After looking at the datasheet, I assumed incorrectly. I believe Enrico mentioned that too. So, I need to get some information regarding the sensors, etc. This is what is happening:

     

    I will order everyone a micropressure sensor (MRP) series. But you have to tell me which one. So go here, and select the one that you need. If you don't need one, tell me that too:

    Here is my sensor order list:

     

    1. MPR Series:

    MPRLS0001PG0000SA (1 PSI, 1 Port, SPI, Gage, 3.3V) - Farnell order number: 2836886

     

    2. ABP Series:

    ABPLANT001PG2A5 (1 PSI, I2C, Gage, 5 VDC, Single Axial Barbed) - Farnell order number: 2773681

    ABPDRRT005PG2A5  (5 PSI, I2C, which I see can operate as Differential or Gage, 5 VDC, Dual Radial Barbed) - Farnell order number: 2490463

     

    3. Humidicon Series:

    HIH8120-021-001 (Digital, 0% to 100% RH, 2 %, SIP, Filter) - Farnell order number: 2356756

     

    Then regarding the particle sensor device.

     

    I believe this is a very useful device for monitoring air quality for those with asthma and sleep apnoea conditions. What I thought is that as an application you would sample air regularly though out the day/night and then display the data on the eInk display. The aim would be to display air quality stats (min, max, average etc.) before someone goes to sleep and then display air quality in morning when they wake up.

     

    Here is another reason why monitoring dust is important for health.

    People who are sensitive to dust, smog, smoke, strong odors and chemicals may experience nonallergic sinusitis. Temperature changes, along with changes in humidity and stress may also be triggers.

    This description of nonallergic sinusitis was sourced from this website (www.cedars-sinai.org).

     

    So, assuming all true, then dust monitoring together with temperature+humidity sensing make for a good combo as well as an important environmental variable to consider when using CPAP treatments for breathing difficulties.

     

    Then one more thing you could also do is also measure the air flow going into the particle sensor device with a pressure sensor... may reveal something...

     

    So I would very much love to test this device if that's possible.

     

    As you know I already have a PSoC kit.

    Hi Randal

     

    I have a couple of queries.

     

    Please could you check with Honeywell which pin is used as the select pin for the SPI sensors on the SEK002 kit. Documentation not clear. Images in documentation show an SS0 (Arduino pin 10) and an SS1 (Arduino pin 9). Reason being is that the PSoC 6 EPD Display Shield uses Arduino pin 10 as its SSEL pin.

     

    Then wanted to check product codes and descriptions before ordering. Farnell order number 2773682 is listed as a differential sensor (ABPLANT015PD2A5) even though it is described as a single axial barbed sensor, which matches image. I always assumed that differential sensors require two ports.

     

    Also, order number 2490463 is listed as a gauge sensor (ABPDRRT005PG2A5) and has two ports.

    rscasny Sensors for our application:

     

    In the MPR series the MPRLS0025PA00001A (order code 2811406) looks best. This is a nice small sensor and it is absolute which is good for us, but its sample rate is not ideal for our application.

     

    In the APB series the ABPDRRT005PG2A5 (order code 2490463) looks best. This is the only sensor that goes above 4 psi at 1KHz. If we only get one sensor this is the best one.

     

    In the Humidicon series the HIH8120-021-001 (order code 2356756) is fine. We don't need this sensor but will demonstrate it if you include it.

    It looks like we need to select digital sensors only...(all the digital sensors on the Farnell page are I2C)

    The micropressure sensor (MRP) series device is a surface mount part that does have a location on the Shield for one at S4 on the board if it is soldered to the Sensor Shield.  I suppose one could try to run wires between the Sensor shield and the MRP if one was careful.  

     

    I'll have to look over these and send you a message with my selection and a description of what I plan to do.
