Need Someone for a Project: Cypress PSoc6 BLE kit +  Honeywell Pressure Sensor Shield

rscasny
rscasny over 7 years ago

I was contacted by a supplier who is interested in giving hardware for free to someone who could do a project for them featuring  Cypress's PSoc6 BLE kit +  Honeywell Pressure Sensor Shield.

They would like the person to do the following:

Interface the pressure sensors of the Honeywell Sensor Shield with the PSoC 6 analog/digital peripherals and then transmit data via BLE or showcasing it on the E-ink display of the PSoC 6 BLE Kit. The project should have some kind of medical application. For example, measuring pressure in some kind of health/medical application.

Just to refresh your mind, here are the parts involved:

Click here for more information on this Honeywell Sensor Shield. I have not roadtested this product.

I would like to do this sometime in October. I'd like to get it accomplished in a month--the shorter time period is why I am not offering it as a roadtest.

If you are interested, feel free to comment below.

thanks.

If it has a PSoC I'm interested. If it has a sensor I am very interested. My day job involves designing products that protect people from explosions. The organ that is most susceptible to injury from explosive…

I wanted to post an update to this.

First off: anyone who needs a PSoC 6 Pioneer kit, they are on their way to me. I got the tracking number so I should get them shortly. In addition, I have ordered 5 Honeywell Sensor Shields (SEK002) for all of you. Before looking at the datasheet, I casually assumed that the sensors were placed on the shield, as they are on other shields/expansion boards. After looking at the datasheet, I assumed incorrectly. I believe Enrico mentioned that too. So, I need to get some information regarding the sensors, etc. This is what is happening:

I will order everyone a micropressure sensor (MRP) series. But you have to tell me which one. So go here, and select the one that you need. If you don't need one, tell me that too:

    https://uk.farnell.com/w/c/sensors-transducers/sensors/pressure-sensors-transducers/pressure-transducers?product-range=m…

    ABP Series

Tell me which one you need from the ABP series: https://uk.farnell.com/search?st=honeywell%20abp

    Humidicon Series

Tell me which one you need from this series: https://uk.farnell.com/search?st=honeywell%20humidicon

I'm not including the particle count sensors because I don't expect they are need for the medical application.

So look over these links and tell me which ones you need and I'll order them.

    Randall

The micropressure sensor (MRP) series device is a surface mount part that does have a location on the Shield for one at S4 on the board if it is soldered to the Sensor Shield.  I suppose one could try to run wires between the Sensor shield and the MRP if one was careful.

I'll have to look over these and send you a message with my selection and a description of what I plan to do.

Good point. The supplier told me that you connect the micropressure sensor with wires /cable like this:

I'll have to get that for you.

Sounds like an interesting road-test to me. I would also be interested to participate in this road-test. I read the pre-written blogs and they are done well written. I liked the swipe functionality on the PSOC board.

To mention; I have worked before with an I2C based Honeywell pressure sensors for a project. They are very accurate. My pressure sensor had a small nozzle on top of the IC where I connected a pipe and a small syringe with a T-style input. One end went to the syringe and other to a mini barometer. When I sucked the air out of the syringe, the barometer reading went low. So I cross-checked my software data with the real data and they were accurate to the 2 decimal points.

rscasny I want to participate in this road-test if there are still places available.

    Regards

Yes, that's a suggestion that I wanted to present as well.
This adapter is described in the datasheet.

I am currently preparing to determine the components.

As I mentioned, I need both boards, the Cypress's PSoc6 BLE kit also the Honeywell pressure sensor shield.

About the sensors I will write to you tomorrow, or at the latest on Monday.
For now, I downloaded the software and datasheets.

Because of the sensor ABPDLNN100MG2A5 I also wanted to contact Honeywell.

He seems to be nowhere to be found instead you can get the  ABPDLNN100MG2A3ABPDLNN100MG2A3 anywhere

Therefore, I also thought, if not could be a typo in the manual, so I want to ask.

    Best Regards

    Gerald

Yeah, that PBC is shown in the following doc:

    https://sensing.honeywell.com/honeywell-sensing-sensor-evaluation-kit-sek002-data-sheet-32333738-a-en.pdf

The trick still is to get the part mounted on the PCB or the Shield. I'm thinking some solder mask and a Toaster Oven might work.

I wonder if there is a difference between the Leadless SMT device and the DIP formatted Pressure Sensor devices.

    Hi Randall rscasny ,

Now, for my project looks the best:

    MPRLS0025PA00001A (Farnell No: 2811406)

also for tests, learning, selecting if this devices would be better to the project:

    ABPDRRT005PG2A5 (Farnell No: 2496756);

ABPLANT015PD2A5 (Farnell No: 2773682); leadless, This sensor would also be used in the "smart home", in which area I mainly work.

    http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2581158.pdf?_ga=2.121799881.316146039.1538161893-907054817.1537274526

The test pcb as you mentioned (it is described in the datasheet), I didn't find on the Farnell webshop.

If you can get one, it would ask as well to get one test pcb for this sensor (2773682).

    Humidicon sensor:

    HIH8120-021-001 (Farnell No: 2350463) SIL4, I2C, w/o filter, w/o digital outputs

    HIH8131-021-001 (Farnell No: ?; I didn't find the number) - SOIC8, I2C, w filter, with digital outputs

    http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1927621.pdf?_ga=2.75659989.1337994729.1538399547-907054817.1537274526

    This device would be nice because it also has digital outputs for e.g. switched devices;

it is not yet planned directly to this project, but to a very small temperature controlled switch.

Here, I will use it together with a 6 pin µController from Microchip.

You gave me some great ideas with this great opportunity in the project. Thank you.

And as above mentioned, I need also the Cypress's PSoc6 BLE kit +  Honeywell Pressure Sensor Shield.

    Thank you very much.

    Best Regards

    Gerald
