    I've only used Basic on TrioMotion controllers before.  My main job is embedded to it's usually C and a dash of assembler thrown in for me.

     

    I know somebody working on a machine which will need a controller, and the volumes aren't there for a bespoke embedded design. So If the hardware is available in the next few weeks I may get a go on that.  Otherwise, I can couple it to a lathe in an attempt to semi automate some repetetive jobs, without going the full CNC route. The lathe is a bit of a hybrid, having been made from mainly scrap parts, cobbled together.

    Not yet.  I am getting up to speed on the Ladder programming.

    I found this PLC tutorial somewhat useful.  Do you know of another?

    What will you use your IMO Smart for?

    Makes me feel kind of special.  I've primed goods inwards, that there will be something coming in that isn't on the system.

  • Here is the  SMT Client to download.

    It is the desktop software to simulate the iSmart devices

    and interface to it when downloading programs via

    the data cable.  N.B. iSmart devices with lcd display

    and simple keypads do not require the data cable

    in order to load a ladder program.

    Probably also need their suite of FTDI drivers.

    IMO PRECISION CONTROLS - SMT-PC03 - PC-Link Programming Cable

     

    Newark Part Number: 74R5351    Price:     $42.14 
    It is a Serial (RS-232) data cable (AH HA insight: 3 wire ? OR 6-pin connector with the following pinout: RTS, RX, TX, 5V, CTS, GND)  to program the device from a XP (maybe Win 7) PC.
    My question is:  Does that cable come with the free Software?  If not, may I safely assume that
    the HMI allows for complete programming?

    Answer:

    With the free software provided, iSmart ‘intelligent’ relays can be

    programmed via a PC, PDA (pocket PC) or the integral keypad, using

    Relay Ladder (LD) or Function Block Diagram (FDB).
