The SAMA5D34-EK is a full-featured evaluation platform for the Atmel SAMA5D34 embedded microprocessor. The kit consists of a main board, a computer module equipped with a SAMA5D34 processor, and a display module. It is supported by the SAMA5D3 Softpack, a free set of bare metal C examples, and is delivered with on-board demos for Linux and Qt-based GUI. The SAMA5D34-EK allows users to extensively evaluate, prototype and create applications that require graphics, audio, mass storage, networking, connectivity and more.

Testers will be selected on the basis of quality of applications: we expect a full and complete description of why you want to test this particular product.
Testers are required to produce a full, comprehensive and well thought out review within 2 months of receipt of the product.

There is a jumper JP1 on the CM board which was set to on when I assembled the board. I left it jumpered since it came that way. I cannot find a description for its function yet although I am sure it is there in the docs.
I had no reason to suspect it but I gave it a try as I was desperate and there it was LCD, HDMI demo etc all in living color!
I will attempt to give the board a fair try out and get back to everyone.
The re-upload of the demos went with a hitch with the proper responses etc including the logfile at the end - no errors. I meant to say that after the re-loads, there was no change in operation - ie no video or lcd output.
I don't think the CM is dead as the dev board responds as it should via the usb/serial connections and passes all tests up to the CAN tests which asks for a cable to loopback which I do not have. It appears to hang at this point so I do not know if there are any further tests such as LCD etc.
Can I perform any tests you know of that might indicate to me if it is the LCD module that is faulty - I may be able to salvage something from this if I can do all work via terminal.
There is no output from HDMI either so I apart from the tests via term/menu I cannot determine if anything else is working.
Definately sounds bricked to me, you can try to flash the memory through the RS242 as long as you can configure the port correctly as your computer probably won't recognize the device. Download the demo software from the Atmel site as well make sure the switches on the Sama are set to read from the correct port you will input the software to. Message me if there is any help you need.
I have been unable to do the review due to illness and was just recently able to start. I finished photos of unboxing and had written intro but I have found that after assembly, the SAMA5 does not produce any output to the LCD at all. I have a red led lit to the left of the four buttons (under the left of the LCD), a blue led on the CM module and a green flickering led under the right of the LCD (D14?). Nothing else displays.
I realise this is late in the piece but as I said, I was ill and unable to work till just this week.
I just got my Atmel SAMA5D34 less than a couple of weeks ago. I can feel the clock ticking. I have found some YouTube videos siting the attributes of the unit but nothing to specific. I would very much like to get the unit to do something practical. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Just bought a Zilog Z86 - Atmel - usb stepper motor driver board. Hope to receive it soon, do some tests with running cnc and robotics with the Atmel SAMA5D34. Maybe try wireless comunications between the 2.

Hi again, No need to respond.
