The RoadTester Poll: What Kind of Engineer Are You?

The element14 community is made up of a diverse collection of people, including engineers, students makers, researchers, academics, and many more. I believe the element14 community team conducted a survey several years ago that supports this statement. But I would like to get a clearer idea on how our engineers break out into specialties. So, I've create this poll. My motivation is to better understand the broad category of the specialties of our RoadTest Group, as well as the people who follow the group in order to help me work with our sponsors better when we are planning RoadTests.

How to participate in the poll: From the selections below, select the broad category that describes your current job or professional role. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Randall Scasny

RoadTest Program Manager

Career path may be a useful data set here. I went Electronics (digital/software) to Electronics (analog/power) to Systems Engineering to Corporate Management to running a Consultancy. I now enable Electronics and Semiconductor firms to incorporate Systems Engineering into their designs, particularly for safety-critical applications.  I can only do this by having a multidisciplinary understanding plus good management skills.

You need a selection that just says "Yes"

I have a hard time understanding the "Engineers" that don't have home projects.

During most of my career, my home lab was better equipped than at work.

You accrue skills in all areas to be able to build the custom toys no one else has to offer.

I'm currently titled as Research Engineer, but was an engineering manager for 8 years, part-time professor for 9 years.

    Time to write a book....

    Scott
