Lulzbot unleashes new TAZ 3D Printer

Earlier this week Lulzbot released their newes fully open source 3D printer. During the development phaze it was known as the TKO and was renamed TAZ for release. Below is an excerpt from their press release. I personally own a Lulzbot AO-100 and have been following the TAZ on Lulzbot's dev channel since it was in the early stages of development. If the claims of improved print quality and resolution are true then this just may be the best fused filament 3D printer on the market today. I am hoping to obtain a unit for review and will report back my findings in the event I get lucky enough to score one.

 

With the largest print volume of any desktop 3D printer in its class, the TAZ (formerly known as TK-0) offers unparalleled print quality compared to other 3D printers on the market. Previous LulzBot models printed on an 8" X 8" X 4" surface, while the TAZ can print on a 12" X 11" X 10" surface. The size difference? Think softball vs. basketball.

    I've been following this project since its start and find that the extra build size would be nice but otherwise am not that impressed.  I wonder why they used linear bearings not their typical Igus bushings like on the AO series.  I've had better luck with Igus bushing then the bearing system.
