    Hey Frank

    The RigidBot isn’t a bad printer.  You do get a large print area but one thing to be aware of with large prints is that you will get some warping in your parts.  This can also cause the part to lift off the bed or even cause the print head to hit the part.  Just something to be aware of when printing large objects.  The way to get around this is by breaking the print into smaller prints and connecting them together.  As for the Makerbot printer that is a good printer but you can buy/make one with the same specs for less.

    Anthony, you are right that you cannot have a printer that does not move in 3 axis.  Are you talking about the RigidBot not having 3?

    The RigidBot has a threaded screw for the Z-axis, but it is unconstrained

    so tends to wobble in the X/Y plane without the optional "upgrade" which is

    a stabilizing bracket for the screw.
