I was chatting with a friend about 3D printers who had not heard of RepRap before. It struck me that many folks being introduced to desktop 3D printing through some manufacturers may not have any understanding of the importance the RepRap project & community played. I'm coming of with a list of resources to introduce someone to RepRap and would appreciate any suggestions to what I have so far:
RepRap Project - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- RepRap project is an initiative to develop a 3D printer that can print most of its own components.
- RepRap was founded in 2005 by Dr Adrian Bowyer, a Senior Lecturer in mechanical engineering at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom.
- RepRap is about making self-replicating machines,
- Reprap.org is a community project
- RepRap was the first of the low-cost 3D printers
- RepRap Project started the open-source 3D printer revolution
- RepRap is the most widely-used 3D printer technology among the Maker Community
Good video embedded on RepRap.org:

Thanks!
