3d printing in business

Three dimensional printing will become a growing demand in businesses asthis technology  becomes more affordable. Companies will want this technology  so they will be able to reduce maintenance costs as well as create their own prototypes without all of the costs of having to pay a machine shop for the custom work. This technology will also be very helpful for at home users who have an ideafor a prototype but don`t have the money to put in to the development process. The future of this hardware looks like it will be a game changer for the textile markets.

The fundamental capability of 3D printers is to allow a single machine to produce a wide variety of output models, by switching out the digital model used as its template. This abbreviates the fabrication tool chain and allows the use of a single factory capable of producing a socket set, a shovel, or a farm implement all without a single physical change - only the transfer of a new virtual template within software.

I own a small business that has just tested our first 3d printer for use in making products for retail.  I personally find while this is currently not the most efficient way to manufacture product it sure beats the wait for stuff from china or even 2 day shipping.  I also find personalizing some products is worth the extra effort.  After my testing I have built a second 3d printer and am working on an easier to use interface so my employees can use it easier, and maybe other businesses like mine could benefit from this new technology.  I think the limitations as to the strength of the final product as well as production time will limit it use in full factories except as prototypeing.  I think this will alow smaller businesses to start up but I do not expect full 3d printer factories or full acceptance of this technology in the homes until the interface is better and the speed is increased.
