I was wondering if a sliced .stl file (or any other 3 D file) can be converted to JPEG or jpg or similar file, so that we can print on a desk jet, inkjet or similar printers.

You could use Blender it's self to take the STL or OBj files then do a render to get the .JPG
There's a bit of a procedure to go through for the STL but I believe it's googlable last time we tried the out put from a 3D scanner into Blender
Thanks a lot.
What is Blender?
Thanks a lot.
What is Blender?
Thank you very much.
IS this for 3 D printing?
3D rendering but it will produce JPEGs for you.
They also have some stuff for creating STLs from objects created from blender... so sort of .
