3D Printing days are numbered...

So many are investing and counting on 3D Printers to be around for a long time. The technology will be surpassed when companies introduce new methods of replicating more than one type of material. I think 3D Printing is great, but will be like a dinosaur later.

I am sort of liking the buggy Tech.. Having been a computer user since Punch cards... I have been there during all the many steps in between then and now.. and although many would call me a dinosaur..…

All technology will be replaced sooner or later. Question is how long can you wait for the newer and more buggy tech? Why not use what we have today instead of tomorrow?

My printer is a year old and now I have an opportunity to buy a peachy printer for $100, mine was originally $350 and I have around $700-$900 in upgrades and replacement parts totally. My printer needs $60-$150 in parts now. It doesn't cost to wai, it's cost to play now hahaha...

Too true Brad,

I'm waiting until I can buy a 3D printer that just works, straight out of the box, from a manufacturer with a reputation to protect and the resources to back it up (eg HP, Epson etc). I thought the Dremel might be it but it seems to have gone very quiet on that front (and the reviews in the US are not encouraging). HP are talking about exciting powder technologies so I'm waiting to see how that pans out.

So far I haven't spent any money at all (well except from some bureau printing).

Have a look at the CEL Robox - the out of the box print experience is one of its declared aims - and with not much messing around (from a 3D printing novice) it is doing this for me.

I'm spending my time doing design work rather than eeking out print perfection
