Hacking an LED FX lightsaber into and inflatable light saber with magnatic grab

I am working on hacking this saber into an inflatable blade instead of an attache blade. was designing this to go with a cos play outfit.

OK, to start with here is the FX control board, I am trying to reuse the main board and speaker in the new saber. I was able to get the measurements for the model 1 light saber Anakin used in episode 2. This gave me just enough room for the mechanics and SMT circuit boards. I am trying to use every switch or light on the saber to do some function of the saber. Also trying to incorporate a highly reflective inflatable blade. I am also trying to incorporate a small but powerful electromagnet to be able to drawl the saber to my hand. I have very little space for the electronics. So I was going with a stacked SMT boards.image

    Questions I have are:

    1. what size of electromagnet would I need to do the job?

    2. what type of material would be best for the inflatable blade?

    3. what type of material is best to cast the maximum amount of light?

Most of the mechanics of the saber has already been designed and 3D printed. its down to the circuit boards, making the inflatable blade and the magnetic grab feature.

I'd be surprised if you could make a strong enough magnet to do what you've described. Even if you do manage that you'd end up with something that could crush your fingers if you were not careful.

Perhaps something with fishing wire instead?
