MakerGear printers 240V only?

davidhbrown

Got an email from Newark/e14 today noting the availability of MakerGear printers (https://www.newark.com/c/tools-production-supplies/3d-printers-accessories/3d-printers?brand=makergear ). Their dual independent extrusion design caught my eye a while ago, but I notice that these machines are all listed as requiring 240VAC. Are these Euro models? Will there be ones that run on 120VAC for USA? Don't feel like putting it in my laundry room would be ideal...

I don't work for Farnell/Newark/element14 - but as far as I can tell, they seem to be switchable dual-voltage owing to the datasheet on the website stating:

If you delve through MakerGear's website about their models - for example, this user manual for the m3, it states that the power supply has a voltage switch:

It seems likely to me that all the units are probably voltage-switchable, and someone at element14 may have incorrectly catalogued the maximum voltage as the "voltage", otherwise these could be units that come pre-configured to the 230V setting and require adjustment. However, I can't guarantee this is the case - it just seems to be the most likely reasoning from my perspective.

Best to enquire with your own element14 office and see if they can help with it.

Very thorough and helpful. And almost surely correct... certainly, that's how my Prusa printer is set up, with a switch on the PS. And I completely missed that bit in the datasheet; thank you for reading more carefully than I did. Given your equally careful disclaimer about your very good reasoning not being a guarantee, I won't mark it as "correct" unless you would like me to :-)
