Bltouch Heating Up

jman095
jman095 over 4 years ago

Just bought a genuine bltouch 3.1 and hooked it up to my Ender 3 running a skr mini e3 v2, but when I turned on the printer, the bltouch got really hot and didn't do anything. Does anyone know why this might have happened?

I haven't seen this equipment, but there are only 2 classes of issue I can think of:

    1. incorrect connection - triple check that all wires are connected exactly as required, and that all connectors are properly seated and all wires have continuity
    2. internal short in the device or wiring - check impedance on each wire to see if it is as expected

Everything now works. In all the installation guides, they went by color of wires. The pins on my Bltouch 3.1 are not marked, and the wire color is different than seen in the guides, so I got the pinout wrong. (Red+White=Ground, Black=5v, Yellow=signal). By some miracle, nothing is fried. In the future I will make sure not to go by wire color, but by pinout.
