I would have to say that you don't have the marlin delta firmware correctly configured.  It sounds like you have the right firmware but make sure this is the one you're using https://github.com/jcrocholl/Marlin.  Here are a couple more links to check out http://reprap.org/wiki/Rostock Reprap development and further adventures in DIY 3D printing: Rostock Delta 3D printer build.  Now as far as if you need Repetier or lets say Pronterface that shouldn't be causing the problems you're seeing.  Let me know if this helps you.

Thanks Nate, i compiled a new copy of the firmware to my printer. It will start to home now, but it only travels about 38mm before stopping short of the endstops. When I do repeat the homing command and allow the carriages to hit the endstops they don't respond, and continue until the command is completed or I reset the board. The endstops are currently wired to be normal open, and complete the circuit when when struck.

Just off the top of my head did you happened to change  X_ENDSTOPS_INVERTING to be true in the configuration. h file.  Since you are using "Normal Open" this needs to happen otherwise like you state when the endstops are hit nothing happens.  Otherwise can you send or add your configuration.h file so I can look at it.

What happens when you send command M119 to the printer.  What does the command return on the status of the endstops?  Are they triggered?  Now send the command again and press a endstop.  what is the status now.

I looked through your firmware and did notice a couple of things.  One this is I noticed you have the x-min, y_min, z_min set to true so this would mean that on your ramps 1.4 board you have these connected to the min connector heads.  Is this true? These should be connected to the max connectors as the firmware looks for max in the pins.h file.  Here is another good website that steps through the setup Kossel Mini - Build A 3D Printer.
