Which is the right program for 3D modeling?

Hi everyone. I am in the process of making an enclosure for a project, but I would like to make a 3D model of it on the computer to see what it would look like. I am just a freshman in college so I do not have efficient money to buy good programs. I was wondering if anyone would know what at least a decent modeling software that i could get for free? Also on a side note, does anyone know of a decent monitor or tv that would be around 14 inches that has speakers for audio?

thank you.

    Hello Cory,

A few that I would recommend are TinkerCAD, OpenSCAD, Autodesk 123D or Sketchup.  All these are fairly easy to use and free.  OpenSCAD will be the most complicated out of them as its a programing based software but very powerful at the same time.  Hope this helps

Personally, I find sketch up a great programming for 3d modeling. What it lacks in power it makes up for in ease of use and if you you just want to model an enclosure, power is not important. Also it is free. Be aware that a plugin is needed to convert to stl files.

One quick question, where was this post before it was moved?
