Hi all,
I have a query regarding the purchase of a 3D printer. In addition to being a PhD research scholar, I am a teacher(electrical engineering) and I have always been on the lookout for new means to challenge my students so that they learn practically as well as theoretically. I myself have been a self learned electronics hobbyist and linux geek since the age of 10 and I think learning by doing is far more engaging than just books.
With that I have been looking for some time to buy a 3D printer kit which will allows my engineering students to see first hand how things work in a mechanical control system work. However the extreme pricing has always caused me to look away. I have finally convinced myself that I should invest in one but I am on a very tight budget. It is very difficult to get the approval for such things for our university as it involves a long line of steps.
I therefore request everyone to provide inputs as to a suitable teacher-budget friendly 3D printer KIT which will be suitable for teaching as well as long term use. I won't want a 3D printer that I will need to replace within a few months. I need something stable and cheap. I emphasize cheap since I really don't have a big personal budget post family and research budgets. Most of the stuff I have is thanks to element14 and from some consultant jobs I did/do.( I am focusing on my PhD right now so no consults in the near future)
Please help.
Many thanks.
Sincerely,
Inderpreet Singh
