Good Entry level 3d printer (2015)

erakus
erakus over 10 years ago

Hello experts,

I'm wanting to get into modding electronics and hobby 3d printing and was curious if you have an idea on what printer to start with?

I'm trying to keep my budget under 2000.  2500 if it is really worth it because i'll spend a few nights with wife agro for spending that much.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I am pretty certain this has been asked before but I ask again for 1 good reason and 1 bad reason.

Good reason: its 2015! maybe something better is out now.

Bad reason:  I couldn't find the "search answers" button on the website.

I'm probably going to be using it mainly for learning the software. So probably reliability over polish? Printrbot seems nicely priced.

It really depends what your looking for. I like Printrbot. It's a good beginner printer. It extrudes. There are some new types of printers that are better in quality with smaller micron levels. Stereo lithography is good which is basically sintering. Extrusion is best for low cost and rapid prototyping. But if you want high resolution, the high price printers are worth it.

There is a road test on the http://www.element14.com/community/roadTests/1354 (CEL Robox 3D Printer). Also do a search above to see many blogs on this one.

I'm not crazy about them. It is very hard as it is to calibrate the x y and z as it is, then they go and make the delta that is an odd and difficult contraption. I've seen some reviews on YouTube lol. I'd stick with simple x, y and z as a beginner. Which is a basic cube or square.

    It depends on your need.

I bought a Geeetech printer, and it performs well sice  I bought it (about 2 months) .

    Here is the link :http://www.geeetech.com/acrylic-geeetech-i3-pro-b-3d-printer-p-917.html

It's not best one, but it's enough for me.

    There are other types: http://www.geeetech.com/3d-printer-3d-printer-c-24_98.html
