after 3 days I'm getting desperate. i have an ender 3 pro with the 4.2.2 board and the chip is marked as gd. i have been trying to install firmware nor sure which one. ever time i get success I'm told to delete the bin file. when i insert the sd card (tf) with a gcode on it. i am met with the blue screen. do i need all the other files on the ender 3 sd card to have a directory

You don't need to keep the files on the SD card, it's only needed once, to program the microcontroller, then you can delete it.

Why are you trying to flash a new firmware, did you install a BL-Touch or some other upgrade?

Your problem is probably because of the GD32 instead of the more common STM32, which most firmware files were made for.

    Try this one: github.com/.../GDF-Ender3bltouchMarlin2.0.8.2-HW-V4.2.2-SW-V2.0.8.zip

So you took out your original board, put in a new one, that didn't work, put back the old one? There's no reason to flash firmware again then.

Does everything work if you leave the firmware file on the SD card?

Maybe something else, other than the controller board is broken, if both of your boards refuse to work?

when i put the sd card in with the firmware it loads i have all the operation. so i shut it down to take out the sd card and go to my computer and through my usb i connect it and delete the bin file. i load up a g code file on a now blank sd card and when i insert the sd card into the printer and turn on the power i am met with a blank screen as a note i have tried a few firmware files. they all  look to load up fine

Well, just keep the firmware on the card then. Maybe something was changed with the boards that have GD chips, and they require the file all the time? No idea, sorry.

"GD_Ender-3 Pro_HW_V4.2.2_SW_V2.0.8.2" from Creality's website is probably your best bet, if you don't want to manually build Marlin (https://www.creality.com/pages/download-ender-3-pro)

I've no help to offer, only condolences. Reading your posts stirred memories of a similar experience. Mine was with $100K of Sun hardware. I had a support contract that I finally had to turn to, in order to climb out of the hole. Anyone with seasoned system administration experience has been where you are at.
