From arduino Prototype to business

Let's imagine you do a good prototype and want to sell it. Your prototype is made with a microcontroller arduino. What you got to do? Where can you buy microcontrolers wholesale more cheap than arduino but with the same arduino language? Can you have author rights with that machine? What is the standard procedure for this?

I wrote an article a while ago about creating an Arduino Derivative, which could be your first step on selling your own project. You can buy the Atmel microcontrollers from Newark for a few bucks each in single quantity. For instance, if you have been working with an Arduino Leonardo, you can buy the Atmel 32u4 microcontrollerAtmel 32u4 microcontroller and populate it on your own board.

You would then have to load the correct bootloader and fuse settings on your stock Atmel chip. And using this method would have you sitting on Arduino's USB registration, which may be a problem, especially in large volumes. It's a long road, but you can do it!
