Contact the manufacturer if you have questions about the legality of the use of intellectual property. Especially, if you intend to modify the Device for resale. Who knows, They may buy the idea from you. If I take a Linksys router apart and turn the circuit board into a Linux game machine. I'm opening a can of worms.
Otherwise, items are designed and constructed from others patented product all the time. If I use a Netgear router in a wigit I make, I haven't violated any patent. It's still a router and doing what it was designed to do.
Good luck,

Thank you kindly, Stephen
However, this is a "pager" that's now, has been design, to be worn, and look like a "buckle" accessory; with "other" details, to make," electronics wearable" as "fashion" accessories ? Hopefully, the next "tech savvy" trends/novelties for todays and tomorrows youths. iBuckle...them up ? Tell me, what would you do, with this U.S. Pat. #6,597,281.....Ive "tweak" it a bit, to stay, within the patent scope; a "pager, thats has a LARGER LCD screen, to "SHOW" lights/colors ( facing outward when wearing like a buckle would ) when incoming, calls / messages / text / FB likes are sent to your number /mobile devices.
Im still trying to get the concept to a developer.
Thank you for your insight

So, it's a Bluetooth device. I wouldn't limit it to just paging. Novel idea though.
Regardless, it must be sustaineable and cost effective.
Good luck Gerald,
