    Yep, seen many computers with a single fan (or none), and the way the question is worded makes it sounds like it's an absolute.

    I've been building my own PCs for many years so this was an easy quiz for me.  Although with recent improvements it's very difficult if not impossible to plug something in the wrong way now.  Building a modern PC is a lot like playing grown up lego.

    Some of the answers may vary depending on the set up of the individual pc, seems that basic principles of heat transfer, power consumption and what components are cable of remains pretty uniform across the board.

    I have been overclocking since I began building PC's...1998 with my Pentium II 333 Mhz overclocked to 430Mhz...So fans are very important and must have a good flow outwards...if you are pushing a lot of air, that air naturally replaces the empty space inside. Cases with holes on all sides is very hard to create natural flow as air flow is interrupted. Back then, there was no water cooling and the air coming in the case had to be cooler or else everything would overheat. So experiment was the only way to find the correct approach. I made a cone that would carry from under the case cold air directly to the fan on the CPU...that kept my PC working very well. And from the rear bottom and front bottom two more fans pulling air in and 2 fans on the top pushing out. My CPU was faster than the next 3 CPU's that intel manufactured. Today, if you have a water cooled case, meaning gpu,cpu on water blocks, there is not much heat in the case as it used to be because it is carried through the radiators. At the moment my PC running on a 3900X OC all core 4.3GHz 1.295V with water cooling, temperatures do not exceed 70⁰C when rendering. All my fans are pushing out except on in the back pulling in...
