Python unicode to LCD

I have written a basic menu system with the 16x2 5 button lcd kit for the Raspberry Pi from Adafruit. I would like to display Unicode characters, specifically unicode u2B07 which is Arrow down. I am pretty sure the display will do it, I just can't figure out the code in python to send it......

  • I don't have the the lcd that you are talking about, but here's the code to print out that symbol in python:

     

    >>> box = u"\u2B07"

    >>> print box

    Arrow down

     

    Hopefully that helps, since I wasn't able to test it with the hardware that you mentioned.

    Thanks Shaun.  I tried several different ways to send it the code and the display prints out a....  small, mirrored, upside down 4.  Not really the arrow I'm looking for.  I think I need to change the display to not be in UTF8....
