From collision avoidance to in-flight entertainment/networking, new avionics equipment demands higher data transmission rates. The ARINC 600 Next-Generation Receptacle Connector from Tyco Electronics is an innovative re-engineering of a classic solution (ARINC 600 connectors) used in airframes and avionics.
Tyco Electronics engineers were able to create a lighter connector with considerable cost savings by utilizing a stamped and formed contact system versus the traditional, screw-machined contact system.
According to Tyco the “monoblock” single-piece connector offers a minimum 500 cycles of mating/unmating and up to a 10% weight reduction per connector (depending on insert arrangement). Completely inter-mate-able with existing ARINC 600 plug connectors the new product is available in solder-tail and press-fit versions.
