looking for a connector...

Hello All,

I'm hoping on eof  you will be able to help me locate a reseller of a specific type of connector. the simplest way to describe it is the DB9 female that is used at the end of the cable of a atari 2600 or sega genesis controller. I've been trying to find a nice connector to finish this simple project, and i'm stuck. I've checked the obvious places with the name i have, and can't find the right part. If one of you knows how it is called (other than "DB9 female, without the screw parts on the side"), let me know... If i can't find anything, i will end up scavenging a genesis controller, but those are getting hard to get by...

Also, as a hint, the one i'm rebuilding (with the twist) needs a twisted cord, like the one on handsets with all 9 connectors. Bonus points if you can find a reseller for that too... image

Thanks a million,

epoch

below are a couple example of what i'm talking about:

Maybe you can look for it in the china market.

If your quantity is large they can custom make for you.

This connector is very very old.

If not mistake last time I use to had a joystick that use this connector, is a normal RS232 9-pin.

Why dont you just get an old one and cut it.

I am trying to recreate a controller for an old console. I will require that sort of connector, but again, with a slight twist.

I guess i will just have to scavenge a controller to get the cable...

    Thanks.

You can find used ones out there for a few bucks. That is going to defanitaly be the easiest way to go.

I've seen several projects using standard DB-9 connectors successfully when needing to interface with Atari Controllers such as Atari/Sega Master System USB converter.

Try looking at www.digikey.com   I'm sure you'll find the one you need among their huge selection

    Good luck
