I'm looking for a connector which is a VERTICAL facing, 8 Way RJ-45 type, but it absolutely has to be SMT.
Basically, I'm looking for an SMT version of this.
It has to be surface mounted because the reverse side of the board will be bonded to a glass plate, so there can be no through holes.
I could live with a horizontal part - (and I've found several on Farnell) but it would be much better for me to find a vertical one.
Maybe such as thing does not exist due to the possible stresses in the cable pulling the part off the board - but I'm not to worried about that really.
