Dennis Ritchie, father of C, passes away at 70

I figured Embedded Systems was an appropriate place to write of the passing of Dennis Ritchie, the father of C and co-creator of Unix. In fact, the only context that I use C anymore on a regular basis is embedded systems. Of course, my world is shaped by his legacy from my Linux desktop to all the websites I browse served by Apache to the endless array of embedded systems I utilize in my daily life (ok maybe a couple are LISP ;).

Too many chefs in the kitchen.

I also have a eulogy on Dennis Ritchie.

I remember staying up for 36 hours straight writing some C programs for college. Tough but rewarding when I was finished. Although I prefer assembly programming, C is my next favourite.

Assembly and C - I like your style! I'm glad I had courses before C was purged from the curriculum at my school. Language choice is always a trade-off but there is just something I like about C.

A sad day. Stuck with C and what its expired every day. Huge love/hate relationship with it. Some days I can't stand even looking at it, others all I want to do is code with it. Ritchie has a lot to answer for. Really will be missed.
