Best choice for camera interface

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hi there,

I am going to design a smart surveillance system in which I will be using PTZ cameras with a controller kit. I need some guidance about the choice of processor to be used. Size of the board is not a figure of merit.
Regards.

Hello abubaker , Assuming you have great PTZ camera's with reasonable till high resolutions then Arduino won't be able to process the video stream and detect motion because it is far too light. As a learning…

abubaker Fortunately ZM is open source and ZM's "zone minding" can be controlled. someone hacked that already ZoneMinder - Wiki - How to control your Foscam HD cameras - PTZ cheers, Fred

What will the board do? If controling a litle bit, not much is neded, But if you do https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan%E2%80%93tilt%E2%80%93zoom_camera detection of movement, a more heavy processor like Raspberry Pi 2 works better.

    Hi Clem,

    Thanks for response.

I want to implement a detection algorithm like viola-jones detection with real time controlling of pan and tilt movement of camera.
    What do you suggest?
