64Kbit DRAM equivalent

KennyMillar
KennyMillar over 14 years ago

Hi everyone

I'm looking for some ram chips I can use to repair a Roland sound module.

The fault lies in the MN4264 DRAM Chips and I need to replace them.

Does anyone know where I can buy MN4264-12 or equivalent chips these days?

It is a 64Kbit DRAM organised as 16K x 4bits.

    Hi Kenny,

How many chip you need ? I think have a couple in some my old hardware.
If it can be useful for you, I can de-solderd it an send you for free.

    Alessandro,

The device has 4 chips in it - I'm not sure how many are faulty.

One interesting thing is that if I put my oscilloscope probe onto the CAS line of the chip bank, the fault goes away - so looks like the timing in one of the chips has slipped out of spec.

    Kenny

I hope the fault is in the DRAM chip and not in the driving circuit.
I can send various brand and various access time chip so you can try.
However 4264 must be a 64K x 1bit chip (see Micron part number list)
I have also some 16K x 4bit but is is usually marked as 4416 41416 an so on.

In this week end I see all I can find for you.

    Alessandro

I've seen confusion over this part number before - these are definitely 4 bit wide chips - I have the schematic for the system (Carl - I PMed you about that!)

And I have a datasheet from Panasonic which shows the MN4264 as 4 bit. The micron data sheet does show it as 1 bit though. I believe both micron and panasonic have used the MN prefix at times.

I may remove all 4 chips from the board and build a test rig for them.
