Being new to Micro-controllers, i was wanting to know what i should do to start off with as far as programers.
I am thinking PIC programers would be the best option, because of the PIC selection, but i don't know if that is a good idea.
For example, can a pic 3 Programer program ALL Pic chips, or are there limitations? I made a mistake in buying a MSP 430 Launchpad, and although it works fine, i have a hard time figuring out what it can program, and can not program. Some chips it has listed as being able to program, i can not get it to access, and so it ended up being a wast, and at the same time, i have not yet figured out what programer Texas instrument has that will program there chips, like the pic3 programer. So, is there a couple of programmers that you all have that covers most of all of your needs? Atmel, Pic, TI, And any others?
What do you use?
I don't haft to use pic, in fact i have never used pic, so, i am completely open to pros, and cons, and suggestions.
I just need a broad range, from 8-40 pin applications, through hole use primarily. I need to program the chip, and than place it on a board, and leave it.
Please feel free to give any ideas, or advice. Thank-you in advance.
