RFID longe range detection

HI Guys.

 

I was wondering if someone knows a cheap module able to detect and identify the presence of an animal.
I need a module able to detect them in a range bigger than 10 Cm.

 

Any recommendations?

  • If you can describe the situation better, it would be easier to suggest a workable solution.

    For example a low cost metal detector circuit could detect a small piece of steel like a dog tag from several meters away, but only if there isn't other steel nearby and of course the animal would have to be wearing the dog tag.

    I'm looking for an option similar to the RC 552 but with a bigger range of detection.

    I have two cats an I want that one doesn't eat to food of the other, that is the reason why I need that each cat has a tag so the reader could identify what cat is and give it access to the type and quantity of food that each one eats.

    But the reader when I use this kind of tags is not able to detect all the times depends on the angle and the position that the cat has to eat.
