Disable TENMA 72-14610 auto shutdown

Hello,

I recently bought a Tenma 72-14610 benchtop multimeter on Farnell. The main reason I bought this device is to run some longer tests and capture data through the RS232/USB.

Now it seems the device will auto shutdown after a few minutes. Is anyone familiar with this device? Can this annoying feature be disabled? There is very little information available.

Hi Max,
Do you have it running on battery power or mains? I have a different Tenma model 72-102072-1020 which can run on either but I always power it from mains. It doesn’t power down, at least over a period of several hours which is the longest I use it.

The device has been powered from mains all the time. This was my first thought as well. Auto power off seems logical running from batteries, but a bit unnecessary from mains.

I think I have just found the solution moments ago: I was looking at the display and it dawned on my the devices had not shut down for a good hour.
The solution: I pressed te RS232 button, this lights up the RS232 indicator on the display. I can still operate the front-panel manually in RS232 mode but it does not seem to shut down so far.
