  • Dear Mr. Haas,

     

    I'm currently working on a power conversion device for a large automotive application. The power converter is positioned on a place where the climatic conditions are far from ideal. I need the select a type of enclosure for the following conditions:

     

    Temperatures surroudings : -40C +65C.

    Air surrounding enclosure: moist, sand, salt.

    High pressure water hose cleaning proof (chemicals and waterpressure).

    Shock and Vibration force: > 15G

     

    The device is not water cooling, but by forced air. The air tunnel can be on the outside of the cabinet. The fans can be in a somewhat less difficult environment.

    There has to be an opening on the from but only needed for service engineers. No hinges or others needed.

     

    The volume is about: Width=30cm, Depth=40cm, Height=65cm

     

    Can you recommend: type of material, IP-rating and system of sealing?

    Hi Enrico

     

    This is a product request that not within our capabilities.   This has to be a very  special box made like a tank – possibly made of thick wall glass reinforced  polycarbonate plastic material and Silicone gasket for sealing. The box will  probably also need shock-mounts to withstand >15G. This is a custom design  project that needs to be handled by professional in automotive  field.  I am not sure who would make this type of box but again, you might search for automobile component manufacturers and see if they can provide assistance.
