Mosfet for 10KV @ 10A (500KHz)rating for the inverter application

Hello Everybody!!!!!!!!

I am working on a concept that requires a high voltage(>5KV) inverter application, the load current will be (5-10A) and the switching frequency will be 500 to 1000 KHz i need suggestions on the availability and their pros and corns.I must be thankful if any body has worked on it previously and can share some info about it.

    A 50kW inverter is a big design task - and a 50kW supply at 5KV is a scary kind of thing. What are you planning to do with it ?

    thank for ur response the application is ac-dc converter with high frequency inverter in between

    That doesn't tell me anything  - how about posting  a block diagram showing the power source (voltages, currents, phases, frequencies) and the stages of the converter and the output. What is the load ?

    What sort of welding needs 10kV ?

     

    (seems  a bit low for electron beam welding)

    special welding is it possible to have a mostfet @5 to 10kv @5A

    if current is problem we can use parallel config i think

    I'm sorry but your questions don't  really make much sense. If you are contemplating building a 50kW inverter you need to be way beyond the level of asking simple questions about devices on forums. When you've looked at Peter's link just take a look at some 50KW inverters on the web (there are lots) and you'll see that typically they are about the size of a (big) fridge freezer and weight about 500kG or more - and these are low voltage (500V DC, 240V AC) machines.

    if you are aware of inverter type welding machines then i guess you can think that this makes sense all the time is there a way that i can have a high voltage(5KV) and low current(5A) device that can work @ >500KHz

    currently the welding  inverters are using iGBT's  1 to 2KV @ 50 to 100A. the limitation is always about the switching frequency,which i would like to eliminate

    This is waaaaaay late and I am sorry that those other guys gave you the run around, they should have led with this rather than poke and prod into your project which is yours to share at your discretion, but the truth is they are right. 5A is not a small current for a 15kV source. Personally I've never seen a human operated welder need anywhere near this kind of power. If you are trying to make a handheld type welder I would recheck your source material as I am fairly certian either your voltage or current requirement that you are asking for is significantly higher than it needs to be. If this is for an industrial application then that's a different story. I could see something like a massive plasma cutter mounted on a robotic arm cutting up 1/2 inch steel plates needing something like this, but if that is the case it is not wise to get this advice from a forum but rather a licensed professional. If you already have the product or device you need to power then I recommend contacting the supplier for advice on how best to supply it the necessary power. Good luck if you are still working on this, and stay safe.
