[URGENT] BBB led power on only

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

Hello everyone,

I bought a BBB and tested it: at start up, the USERS leds blinks.  I have followed the instructions in the site Beagleboard:Updating The Software - eLinux.org.

I unplagged the power supply and I keep pressed the S2 button (boot) (at least 1 minute), I Applied the power to the board by plugging in the cable (external power supply 5 V, 3 A). Only power led is on.

When I pressed the power button for at least 8 seconds, the power led is turned off then after  3-4 seconds it is turned on.

When I connect the BBB to UART port, I see the character 'CCCCCC' periodically, what does it mean?

Could you please help me, it is urgent?

Have you googled for Beaglebone CCCC? You'll see this which should provide you with some useful ideas https://e2e.ti.com/support/embedded/starterware/f/790/t/210768 Assuming your power supply etc is all…

Before software update, was the BBB working? Are you booting from eMMC or SD card? What version and/or date is the BBB? Details like where did you update the software from. Also Armstrong is old version of Debian and a more modern one found.

    Hi,

I use Beaglebone black rev C. When I tested it (factory configuration),it was working well, the users leds blinks. I tried to update eMMC with SD card: Debian 7.9 (flasher image: Debian 7.9 (BeagleBone, BeagleBone Black, Seeed BeagleBone Green - 4GB SD) 2015-11-12 ) from the web site BeagleBoard.org - latest-images

I might suggest turning to Jessie since Wheezy is showing it's age.

    Have you tried this:

    Reported Issues

We have had a few cases where it appears that attempts to flash the board were caused by an improperly formatted microSD card.
This can be resolved by performing the following steps on the microSD card before copying the image to it using the Diskimager software.

    1) Download the HP Formatting tool from one of the following locations

[HP Format Tool Ver 2.18 http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,64963-page,1/description.html]
[HP Format Tool Ver 2.18 http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197]
[HP Format Tool Ver 2.18 http://hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool.software.informer.com/]
[HP Format Tool Ver 2.0.6 http://www.4shared.com/rar/9mNWV4Vl/HP_USB_Disk_Storage_Format_Too.html]

    2) Decompress the verification image file using 7-zip.
    3) Insert the microSD card writer/reader into the Windows machine.
    4) Insert 4GB microSD card into the reader/writer.
    5) Run the HPFormatter tool and format the SD card for FAT or FAT32.

NOTE: In Windows 7 you will need to run this in administrator mode by right clicking and select "Run as Administrator"

Under Windows XP, the format options are FAT32 and NTFS. Select FAT32.
Under Windows 7, the format options are FAT and NTFS. Select FAT.
You may see different operation for some reason where FAT32 or FAT may or not be there. You can select FAT or FAT32.

NOTE: Make sure you select the drive letter of the uSD and not some other drive!!!

    6) Close the HPFormatter tool when done.
    7) Remove the microSD card from the writer/reader. 8) Follow the steps above to create your flasher microSD card.

If you create an image of your sd and place the image someplace for me to grab, I can create an sd card to try with my BBB.
