my work environment is as follows: Raspberry Pi 3 and Berryboot. I have the touch display mounted on the support element14 Pi Smarti Touch, the display works well but the touch is not responding. Many thanks for your interest in helping.
I would still double check the ribbon cables... both of them, specifically the one I am referring to at about 1:30 mark and 8:30 mark
By all means view Peter Oakes' Video, I used it as my Primary source of Information on how to connect my: (a)RaspPi 3B, (b) 7" touchscreen [element14 stock #49Y1712] , (c) SmartiPi Touch Case. But unlike PO's video my touchscreen two boards were already connected together (when taken from the Box.). If Po's video did not solve your problem, I am willing to go over step-by-step how I made my connections. Let me know. BTW I am running Raspian 2016-05-27. What is Berryboot? BTW2 my SmartiPi Touch Case doesn't allow access to the HDMI port. I used a Dremel Tool to cut an access opening to the HDMI port. Inserting a right-angle-HDMI-to-HDMI-Adapter. made connection come-out at 90 degrees to the Back (of Unit, the SmartiPi Touch Case). If requested I will try to post some pics here. But I am having trouble figuring where my iP4s puts photos when connected to a Win10 PC. Maybe I should be using the Apple Cloud? AAR this iP4s was a hand-me-down, maybe I should gotten an Android Phone.
Just like in the 1960's-70's when computer geeks made Fun of the Establishment by the slogan "Free the PDP 8" referring to the Digital Equipment Corporation Minicomputer. My slogan here is "Free the HDMI"
