Hi, I am a Beginner

Hi,

 

Im new to electronics, but am very intrested to make a few things as a hobby. This comes from watching shows such as The Ben Heck Show and an old Revision3 show Systm. As a recommendation I have bought the book "Understanding Basic Electronics" but I don't know where to go from here, does anyone have any recommendations for projects suited for beginners?

    Hi Adam,

     

    If you can only afford one reference by the ARRL Handbook, this is the Amateur Radio league's encyclopedia of everything electronic. I'm a practicing engineer and I still refer to it often for ideas or formulas I can't remember of the top of my head. The basic electronics chapter should be very useful to you.

     

    If you want to start making things then probably spend some change getting an Arduino, or if you want to start with a more powerful platform you can get an  MBED. The Arduino has a more developed community and plenty of libraries which simplify it's use so I'd recommend the Arduino over the MBED if you're just starting out.
