500 V 18 ampere DC switch

I have a string of PV panels with 500 volts and 18 amp DC , i need to switch it between two inverters ( Grid tie) and ( hybrid). i want on condition one to switch array to one inverter and condition 2 to switch array to inverter 2. I also need a gap of at least half a second between one switching off and other switching on..

inverter one is grid tie and i want it to have panels all the time , except when utility goes out. it stops functioning, in which case i want panels to be shifted to hybrid inverter, ie inverter 2. after a delay of ..5 to 1 second. again when utility is back i need it to break panel contact to inverter 2 the hybrid, wait .5 to a second and switch the array to inverter 1, Grid tie.

i need a circuit. tried scratching my head, but , i think i am too rusty now.

    You looking for a manual switch or a DC rated contactors ?  Do you need a timing circuit, or appropriately rated components ? How will the inverters behave with the DC inputs coming and going ?

    Why not have two relays - one mains NO which drops out when mains cuts out (say a TE/Tyco/Schrack RM805730 25A) , then a delay then the second with a DC coil cuts in after your delay. Just drive the second relay with a single FET from logic (?) and an RC timer and cuts out if the mains goes "high" (rectified and potted-down to give this reference). Simple?

    There are timing relays available, tho needing some form of control power for the relays and/or contactor coils.

       I am designing a hydrogen-powered house.  This is very easy to accomplish. use an Arduino, Bone, or Pi it really doesn't matter.  You need a few things 1 two timers, and a zero-crossing detector that will tell you when your mains drop out. 1. your delays are unreasonable.  they have to be longer. you don't want to change from batteries 30 sec later and then have the line go back down.  I live in Texas and in the storm a few years ago the power went up and down 4 or 5 times before we were out for a few days. OUCH! My HP laser went down as it was not on a UPS and it now has to be cleaned! So lets get this straight you have 1 panel and 2 inverters,  should I ask why? Normally your panel(s) feed the batteries which feeds the inverter, and you have a switch between the input from the line in (power co.) and the inverter.  I would not switch from the mains for 15-30 seconds. and then I would not switch back for 2 minutes. You really don't want to switch when the power is flaky. 

    In my new place, I will have 3 phase coming onto the property. prodominitly 3 phase is for the shop. or any motor in the house.  from the 3 phase, I get 220 split or normal for your home.  This feed is what goes to the transfer box. Its other input is 120 vac from the inverter which is powered by a 5kw fuel cell. Heat comes from hydronic(s) in the floor, with the heat coming off the roof via a Solar Water panel. I can augment the water via wood, or electricity. 

    The commercial transfer switches are big bucks and have solenoids to do the work. At the moment you are asking for pie in the sky as you never said what the load in amp, volts. so If you are in the States and you are putting a small house on that 120 @ 100amps but today its 220 split, at 200 amps. so the contactor should be 600vac this is not chump change!!

    My Generac unit has been very useful over the years since I had one installed.

    These transfer boxes work great.
