hi there i was wanting help here i am doing a remote control system for a project that will consist of

transmitter (has 12 channels and i can select up to 150 districts lcd to say witch district is selected)

receiver (aka district that has 12 outputs (to preferably control relays)

access card (a pcb card that will have a microcontroller on (3 needed to turn on the receiver (each one with there own code)

what i would like

easy expatiation

minimal cable run

what i think can be useful

rs232 (for communications from the transmitter to the receivers)

apart from that i have not got much els at the moment

Hi Sam, You've already posted this in another section of the forum. Posting the same thing multiple times won't get you any more responses and it'll just get confusing with people thinking their replies…

    Hi Sam,

You need to provide us with more information on the project.

What is the purpose of the device, ranges, communication speeds, data size, data volume, command timing, power issues, plus all the other detail you can provide.

How about a block diagram showing the components and how you envision their connections.

the max range i will be going is about 150m i dont quite know what communication speed data size or data volume or comand timeing each unit wil have its own power supply

it dose not have to be rs232 i just thought it could be the best

how i see it is basically a set of momentary switches to control relays but i can have bans of relays and as little wier as possible the lcd to show witch district is selected

and the access cards are basically a unique glorified switch basically each card has its own unique code/key and when all 3 are connected it can energise a relay to activate the system

I always get concerned when you select equipment before you define and design the system.

It is better to take some time to consider your options, look at usage issues and assess the need for growth.

Your current approach may work, but you will probably find the need to make some major changes when you find the initial build too limited for effective use.

A little up front time can save you a lot of headaches in the long run.  Trust me, I know.
