LoRaWAN_End_Node: change configurations

huytyskland
huytyskland over 2 years ago

Hello everyone,

As mentioned, I am working with LoRaWAN_End_Node downloaded from STM32Cube MX. In this example, I spent several days and found no place where I can change configurations such as Spreading Factor, TX Power, or Bandwidth.

I tried to change that in RegionEU868.h but it did not work. If anyone works with this example, would you kindly share some experiences on this matter?

Thank you in advance,

Huy Nguyen.

Hello shabaz , I can see where I change those factors already. The code used Data rate to indicate Spreading factor. Thank you very much, Huy Nguyen.

    Hi,

They are probably using the source from https://github.com/Lora-net/LoRaMac-node and adding their own modifications.

It's very possible that some of the parameters are configurable but others may not be, depending on ST implementation. For instance, ST may have some of the settings in a config file, but others may be defaulted. However, if you search the code, you'll find the radio-specific files (e.g. sx1276.c and so on, since they will not have touched that code (or touched it much). You can see from there how all the parameters are configured, so you could override there worst case (or just grep all the files once you see the function that contains the parameter you wish to modify in that radio file, to find the calling function at a higher level).

I didn't use ST processor so I can't point you to the specifics, but it's 95% certain they are using the same source code for the LoRaWAN protocol and radio portion.

For instance, I had to do something similar, where I wanted a different Tx power, and the particular radio I was using only offered that Tx power on a different pin. I had to go into the radio file (or a low-level file that called the function in the radio file) and place my overriding code in there, so that the radio chip was always initialized to the Tx pin and power that I needed.
