Internet Of Things application with the BeagleBone Black

sfc

Hello everybody, I want to make an application for a BeagleBone Black running linux connected to a magnetic card reader and a touchscreen, the BeagleBone Black will be connected to the internet. When a user passes his card trough the reader the code in the card is sent to a remote server which finds information related to the user in a database (text and pictures) and then sends this information back to the BeagleBone Black to be shown.

What are the best programming languages and libraries to develop this application in the BeagleBone Black and in the server without using a web browser? Do you know of any open source software that do what I ask?

    Hi Sirius,

You could do this in any language, on any Linux platform, I don't see that it is specific to the BeagleBone Black.

I don't think there is any specific open source software for all of this, but you could pick an open source database and other libraries as required to meet your needs.

You might want to create a high level design, and then decide what protocols, databases, etc. you wish to use, and then find open source software for the them where possible, and write the remainder

in the language of your choice (assuming you have APIs or libraries or the abiity to write them it in that language).

Thanks for the answer Shabaz, I did not know when I asked the question, but what I'm looking for is an access control software for linux. I searched the Internet and found a couple of options, are not very complete but I keep looking.

I doubt the complete solution exists as one neat bundle of source code, it doesn't sound the type of thing you may find no matter how much you look. I think you will have to trailblaze and

    put together such a solution.

There may be paid versions of something close to what you want, but I don't know.

If you do manage to design and put together the appropriate code based on your design, it would be good to see the end result, perhaps in a blog post, to help others who are also seeking such a solution.
