The answer is...... 5G I was surprised by this. But the panel went over and over 5G and talked about its low latency.

Voted other. I'll guess it may be Z-wave ? a protocol used mostly for home automation, operates below 1GHz, communication distance is about 30 meters (about 100ft).

Possibly 6G development as a few days ago somewhere in FInland a 6G conference was held.

That is a bit surprising considering that all indications suggest it will be sometime before there is any sort of big roll out of 5G. I would have expected Cat-M1 (an LTE based network) and/or Cat-NB1 to be on the top of the list especially since Cat-M1 was already rolled out by cellular providers.

That sort of thing would surely be sector specific.

E.g. Smart Cities, Agtech etc. I would expect conversation around cellular (e.g. NB-Iot / CAT-M1) and LoRa. Possibly other sub GHz wireless.

E.g. Industrial, Smart Buildings etc. would be WiFi or Bluetooth.
