Audio Amplifier questions

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hello everybody!

I am trying to make an audio amp, but I don't know which IC to use. This is problem number one.

I would liek to do something like what Ben Does with his xbox 360 laptop audio amp, which he uses buttons

to amplify the audio.

Here, on the 1.35 video mark you can see that. He does not mention what is the second IC, and the

first one I can't find here in my country, any alternatives to that?

Also now, problem 2! I need a way to, when connecting headphones to it, it would cut the speakers sound. is that possible using only

hardware, headphone jacks only?

Thank you in advance everyone!

Hey Lucy, I can answer only to the second question. What you ask in point two has a clear answer: YES image

As you already say plugging the earphones in the micro jack there are some contacts that switches and only is just the signal. You can get just this signal, for example pulling it to low, nothing to do with the audio Left + Right + audio gnd and use this as a common input pin to switch automatically the speakers or the earphones.
