Wiring techniques for pro looking products

ZeroSizeObject

I delivered a product of mine to a customer, and they harshly critiqued my wiring of the interface box for my device. Actually the customers comments made the whole meeting uncomfortable. He wanted to return the whole system, being local, I decided to pick it up personally.

The interface box have a collection of different control boards. Each board has a ports on all 4 sides. Also, I have elaborate AC wiring in the box. I did the best to make it look good, heat-shrink tube, spiral wrap, short wires.

What are some good methods of making a pro looking wiring box? One more caviet, it has to be inexpensive.

Any help is appreciated.

It's always miserable when a customer brings you up short like that - bad luck.

It's very hard to comment without a picture - could you post one ?

The way most biggish one off pro-equipment is wired to look neat is by using trunking, din rail terminals where appropriate etc.

Here are two of mine - the neat one is finished and the less neat one is being debugged so some wires have been pulled out of the trunking.

You can buy the trunking from Farnell !

    Michael,

Trunking/Wire duct is a good idea. You photo shows a pretty clean interface box. I would say mine is similar, but no wire duct. Could you help me find it in the E14/Newark store? I can not for some reason.

I will try and post a picture.
