Lego kit of Ladyada's Workshop to inspire kids

fustini

I saw this exciting proposal for a new Lego kit today:

http://adafruit.com/lego

Ladyada's workshop is a place where you explore all the cool things you build and use when you're an engineer! Computers, pick-and-place machine, laser cutter, soldering station and more! In Ladyada's workshop you can run your own open-source hardware electronics company, complete with Mosfet the cat.

If you dig this LEGO set as I do, then please register and vote for it here:

LEGO will make a real set if it receives 10,000!

Cheers,

Drew

I initially dismissed the set as a toy, but then I got to thinking about it and realized that the sooner we get kids thinking about engineering and science, then the sooner we can plant the seed for them…

Very cool.  Thanks for posting Drew.  Since we're on the subject of legos check out this link http://botbench.com/blog/2012/05/18/lego-heavy-weapons/  Someone created directions to create a fully functional lego weapon that shoots legos.

Wow, that's pretty amazing.  Might be little too realistic looking but impressive none the less.

BTW, the Adafruit set on LEGO Cuusoo has 879 votes now, so still a way to go to 10,000.  Looks like they could use every vote they can get.

I agree that you probably wouldnt want to walk around with it but to get it to fucntion like that just blows my mind.

I initially dismissed the set as a toy, but then I got to thinking about it and realized that the sooner we get kids thinking about engineering and science, then the sooner we can plant the seed for them to become professionals.

So thinking about it as a future engineering marketing and advertisement, it is a really cool way to get the word out about science.

    Count me in,

There is TI motor-control tech inside this :-)

LEGO Technic - This cool supercar is full of working features and functions, just like the real thing! Use the built-in Power Functions to open the scissor doors, extend the rear spoiler and pop the hood to reveal the V8 engine. Also features gear wheel steering, realistic suspension and moving pistons. Rebuilds into a Hot Rod.

I would gladly vote for this, but trying to force us to join twitter or facebook or any other unsafe website is wrong, wrong, wrong.

So you won't get the full number of votes that the product deserves.

Organise voting here maybe (if it already IS here, then make it more obvious to all please!)

    Best wishes and

    regards

    Andy
