Hi Guys
If anybody can help me identify what this component (with part number) is it would be greatly appreciated !!!!
It might be a High Power Infrared Emitter?
I look forward to hearing from you.

A couple more observations. The lead that is still on the device looks very heavy for a sensor. The front of the unit while transparent doesn't seem to make any attempt to focus the photo medium to or from the junction area. I looked in some of my old books and found some photo darlingtons in a TO 5 type case with similar dimensions to your drawing but they had lens shaped windows and their leads (3) were smaller guage than yours appears to be.

Thanks for your help, it is just a two lead component. I had a look at the TO 5 type as you said but my part is smaller, I think it may be a TO 18 possibly a High Power Infrared Emitter?

Probably TO46.
Could you perhaps show us what's left of the part number more clearly (without part of it being in shadow).
I wonder if it is a photodiode or phototransistor too, because the photo file name is 'namco' so it could be from a light gun maybe (I have no idea what Namco made apart from "game stuff"!
If it is, then Andrew, this will be not worthwhile to repair for use with modern LCD TVs (they work on a different operating principle and such light guns only work with the older glass CRTs).
