Programmable timer to drive 230V siren for sports ground

Hi, I'm new to Arduino and am impressed with the vast array of projects that turn up! I want to make a programmable timer to drive a siren periodically. Basically I want it to drive the siren for a 6 sec blast at set times throughout the day. I have hunted around for a similar project as I'm sure it's been done but am not having any luck. Does anyone know of one that will suit my purpose? Any assistance in being shown where to start would be most appreciated.

  • I'd use a relay and set one of your pins to 5v output on a 6 second loop during the chosen time periods. It's almost the same as the blinking LED

     

    int outPin = 13;


    void setup()

    {

         pinMode(outPin, OUTPUT);

    }


    void loop()

    {

         digitalWrite(outPin, HIGH);

         delay(60000);

         digitalWrite(outPin, LOW);

         delay(time to next trigger);

    }

    connect pin 13 and ground of your arduino to the triggering side of the relay, Then connent the sirens Positive lead to the other two inputs on the relay and ground to it's ground. when your arduino sets the 5v output it acts as a switch conneting the positive line, giving your siren power.
