Convert Existing Automatic Sliding Door to Operate with RPI

This may sound obvious but the PI can not directly operate the doors, you will need a 3V3 to mains conversion to happen

this could be a relay (Solid State or Mechanical), it should be isolated from the PI power and the PI itself, if the relay is mechanical and has an input able to wirk with 3V3 and the module (Not just the relay) is rated for mains your all set

So in summary, is the pi able to act as a ontroller for the doors - YES

is the PI able to operate the mains based door control - NO, not directly, you need an interface board (NOT a PI FACE DIGITAL or one of the ebay arduino / RPI relay boards either as there only rated for about 24V even though the relays are able to handle 240V. IE, not safe for amatures or otherwise  at mains voltages

If you provide pictures of the damaged boards and any schematics you may have access to we should be able to help better

so after reading loads of this in detail

It looks like most of the controller board is actually a power supply and it is entirly possible the controller is still OK and only the PSU section is blown, if this is the case, it may be relativly simple to replace the power supply

Have you been able to measure any voltages on the controller ?

the one thing that stands out on all of this is the safety compliance, if your going to build a PI version for fun thats one thing, if your going to put it into a commercial building / appartment / Store then it MUST be certified and compliant with local code etc, to not do this could cost you dearly with insurance etc

Most of the components look like there either 24V or 40V (Motor?) so the actual interfacing to a PI would just require a relay board probably

Do you know if the other modules are OK, after the surge hit?

Are the units still installed, I am assuming so based on the pictures, how are you operating the doors right now ?

What is your skill set ?

Yes I've sent the controllers in and they are totally fried. To many parts damaged. They accumulated sea air deposits and eventually became one circuit!

I am aware of the safety compliance and will be using it commercially so i need to make sure i program it the same way it operated before. I've got more than basic programming skills but am not a pro. I also have basic electronic skills but av enough support from a pro locally.

I've got two doors with working motors and modules without controllers. I had one controller in working order as seen in pictures which i swapped with the blown controller on a more important door.

The 2 doors that is not working is not so important. I have the time to repair and program the software besides there is so much support online.

Can you confirm the voltage operating range for the motors, from the previous pictures it looks to be 40V but I can not be sure, based on what I have seen so far this would be possible with a PI, an Arduino MEGA, A LAunchpad or many other devices including a few Industrial Controllers (PLC devices) that will already have the interfacing to interact with the higher powered devices
